Fleet Week 2007

October 4th through Tuesday, October 9th

One of the biggest boating events of the year is coming up the first week of October. For the past 25 years, San Francisco Fleet Week has been an annual opportunity for Northern Californians to honor the men and women serving in the United States Navy, Coast Guard and Marine Corps. This year Fleet Week will include participation from the Canadian Navy, and U.S. Army landing craft will also be welcomed. Approximately 10,000 crewmembers on visiting ships will be participating in Fleet Week.

Various elements of Fleet Week will run from Thursday, October 4th through Tuesday, October 9th. A range of activities will be featured, including the parade of ships on Saturday from about noon to 1:00, ships visits, air races, and aerial demonstrations by the Navy’s Blue Angels, Team Oracle, and the Air Force’s F-16 Viper West Coast Demonstration Team. The Fleet Week Air Show will be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and the ships visits will extend through the long weekend. For more information and a complete schedule go to http://fleetweek.us/fleetweek.

Saturday and Sunday of Fleet Week (October 6th and 7th) are likely to be some of the busiest days of the year at South Beach, so parking availability will be limited. Plan to come to the harbor early or, better yet, take advantage of our top-notch public transit system to enjoy one of the premier events on the Bay.
